The Tricolor Absorption Photometer (TAP) measures light absorption at three wavelengths by particles deposited on a filter. By assuming a mass extinction efficiency, the ambient mass loadings of black carbon can also be determined..
Translation: the TAP uses three lasers passing through a white filter with particles collected from the atmosphere to measure ambient aerosol light absorption and black carbon.
As of now, please monitor the b1-level aostap datastream for all TAP instruments. When submitting DQPRs for the TAP, please use the TAP instrument class under the AOS Group.
